<br />
I was recently faced with what to get as a gift for a White Coat Pinning Ceremony. For those that don't know, for DPT students, the white coat ceremony signifies their transition from full-time classroom curriculum to the start of their clinical rotations. So, not a graduation, but still something major worth celebrating. And what's better for celebrating than WINE!<br />
<br />
Who would have thought my doll clothes making skills would come in handy dressing up wine bottles? Click on the image below to download the PDF pattern from google docs.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IpWgIJ3a30b0o5gTqhJOPqH2hWej_-xB/view?ths=true" imageanchor="1" target="_blank"><img align="center" border="0" data-original-height="1228" data-original-width="1600" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rrqNgPz1r9w/XJOpho5IrtI/AAAAAAAABgs/8N6GSSSst4szQ3YuhIIJQVtBmeTMEz5KQCLcBGAs/s1600/SCAN0043.JPG" width="200" /></a></div><br />
I drafted this pattern for a white coat wine bottle cover to fit an empty wine bottle that I had at home, which was 10" in circumference. However, the wine that we purchased as the gift was 11" around. I didn't realize that wine bottle sizes were so different. After a slight panic attack, I threw the pattern on a copier and enlarged it by 10%... problem solved.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wNROnUeKbUA/XJOp9fsmr0I/AAAAAAAABhA/3Uq4KZLEfkYHawpth_E3ZSgEoXIxJbKIgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6462.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wNROnUeKbUA/XJOp9fsmr0I/AAAAAAAABhA/3Uq4KZLEfkYHawpth_E3ZSgEoXIxJbKIgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6462.jpg" width="450" /></a><br />
<br />
Cut the pattern out from two 9"x12" pieces of white felt. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Esz8WyuOe3c/XJOp9eEosxI/AAAAAAAABg8/RWAHGihT1ccEA3isbV2Qu4_BW_CMycC-ACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6463.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Esz8WyuOe3c/XJOp9eEosxI/AAAAAAAABg8/RWAHGihT1ccEA3isbV2Qu4_BW_CMycC-ACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6463.JPG" width="450" /></a><br />
<br />
Attach fronts and back at the shoulder seam.<br />
Attach the sleeves to the front and back.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DpMLlhhG_uQ/XJOp9e8UEhI/AAAAAAAABhE/Cb0Dwrcr1OQdU3MoI0SWzEDmeLMXrEEJQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6469.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DpMLlhhG_uQ/XJOp9e8UEhI/AAAAAAAABhE/Cb0Dwrcr1OQdU3MoI0SWzEDmeLMXrEEJQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6469.jpg" width="450" /></a><br />
<br />
Sew the collar to the coat... I sewed mine so that the collar seam was on the outside. This made the collar stand up when flipped and folded to the outside. A little bit of the seam showed at the front, but I just trimmed it and whip stitched it down. Maybe, next time I'd try sewing the collar so that the seam is on the inside...<br />
<br />
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xkwiwk2kfEo/XJOp-IEUdkI/AAAAAAAABhI/QRDwdNE0zhc4j6UXXOfG2LQLcMvyk79ywCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6470.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1201" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xkwiwk2kfEo/XJOp-IEUdkI/AAAAAAAABhI/QRDwdNE0zhc4j6UXXOfG2LQLcMvyk79ywCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6470.jpg" width="450" /></a><br />
<br />
Sew the coat side seams and turn it right side out.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HacYOeZglgE/XJO58o1UGsI/AAAAAAAABhs/ghCpLzp5wBMjol0cqWt0dXQQJmbQQhW1ACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6752%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1199" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HacYOeZglgE/XJO58o1UGsI/AAAAAAAABhs/ghCpLzp5wBMjol0cqWt0dXQQJmbQQhW1ACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6752%2B2.jpg" width="450" /></a><br />
<br />
Now for the fun part... add your details!<br />
<br />
<ul><li>Buttons! Buttonholes aren't needed since this will slide on over the top of the bottle.</li>
<li>Attach pockets.</li>
<li>Border stitch along the center front and lower edge of the coat</li>
<li>The school's logo printed on clear sticker paper and stuck it above the breast pocket.</li>
<li>The pin created from a tiny brass brad (in my case I painted it white and added a logo with clear sticker paper).</li>
<li>The student's name embroidered on the pocket.</li>
<li>As a little extra gift, I hung a cute necklace from bottle.</li>
</ul><br />
<br />
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-403la7AhVa0/XJOp-m3EBJI/AAAAAAAABhM/Ow_WoZweiEklR6l8vOGxt_9Gr92Q7AX7gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6915.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-403la7AhVa0/XJOp-m3EBJI/AAAAAAAABhM/Ow_WoZweiEklR6l8vOGxt_9Gr92Q7AX7gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6915.JPG" width="450" /></a><br />
<br />
I hope that someone will use this pattern someday. This is a "Get Well" card. Have you ever seen such a depressing "Get Well" card?<br />
<br />
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w1_9ktMPIrQ/Wn-VFkhioMI/AAAAAAAABds/odcux-0GsskhqfPpEBlSsM2_YKdiM5YNACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1197.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w1_9ktMPIrQ/Wn-VFkhioMI/AAAAAAAABds/odcux-0GsskhqfPpEBlSsM2_YKdiM5YNACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1197.jpg" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="800" width='500' height='500' /></a><br />
<br />
Well, I worked really hard on that umbrella so I never threw the card away (this stamp didn't come with dies like PTI stamps do, so it was a CHORE!). My girlfiend just invited me to her daughter's baby shower, so the depressing "Get Well" card is transformed for a baby shower.<br />

Christmas has started at PTI! I love the Christmas inspiration. Here is a tag that I created from the DT inspiration.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5__kcGPsF2I/Wb2jEKjyiQI/AAAAAAAABa4/V1VI3DHlJ4QW4FbKAUItRa8Kql-Pp4LBgCHMYCw/s640/blogger-image-921743165.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5__kcGPsF2I/Wb2jEKjyiQI/AAAAAAAABa4/V1VI3DHlJ4QW4FbKAUItRa8Kql-Pp4LBgCHMYCw/s640/blogger-image-921743165.jpg" width=500></a></div>Joni Mhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02929489570762650545noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3528131121449189274.post-35417505385966162272017-06-11T10:37:00.001-07:002017-06-11T10:37:20.223-07:00PTI MIMI don't usually go on and on about a new technique, but this was seriously COOL! The <a href="http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2017/06/make-it-monday-287-baby-wipe-inking.html">PTI MIM challenge</a> this week was about creating a background with baby wipes. I only have three reinkers... blue, green and tan. It was super easy to make a nice diagonally stripped background as a backdrop for a simple Father's Day card.<br />

What got me was the GREAT sentiments that came with this set, and the adorable crane. Here is a simple card that I made up for the <a href="http://reverseconfetti.com/category/sketch-for-you-to-try/current-sketch/">Reverse Confetti May Sketch Challenge</a>. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-t5FaoKzUHKE/WRPu2GeoRtI/AAAAAAAABZY/pT1AeLslbQ8R7HcYDzmMoQxplMI-kif_ACLcB/s1600/card11.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-t5FaoKzUHKE/WRPu2GeoRtI/AAAAAAAABZY/pT1AeLslbQ8R7HcYDzmMoQxplMI-kif_ACLcB/s1600/card11.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Each multi-colored bird is made of four stamped images, watercolored, cut apart and reassembled. I thought that the text running in multiple directions would add to the origami effect.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your week!Joni Mhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02929489570762650545noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3528131121449189274.post-82851417907769350912017-05-07T10:29:00.001-07:002017-05-07T10:44:44.110-07:00PTI MIMHappy Sunday, blogging friends! <br />
Here is my card for the <a href="http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2017/05/make-it-monday-283-watercolor-wash-backgrounds.html">PTI Make it Monday challenge</a> (nothing like coming in just under the wire). I had this started fairly early, but it's been a super busy week at work... you know how it is sometimes...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8nRsQ9t57Pc/WQ9ZeaW3pJI/AAAAAAAABYw/HtyijJk69xc1rXxfiXHZjsLnwFuer4ISQCHM/s640/blogger-image--1356457481.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8nRsQ9t57Pc/WQ9ZeaW3pJI/AAAAAAAABYw/HtyijJk69xc1rXxfiXHZjsLnwFuer4ISQCHM/s640/blogger-image--1356457481.jpg"></a></div><br />
I used watercolor paper instead of regular cardstock and what a difference it makes when doing a watercolor wash! I like how the metallic copper and blue came together. My dad had a VW Bug, so of course the car is stamped in his bug's color (aqua). <br />
Here are the PTI products that I used:<br />
