Altenew 3D Floral Focus 3

A new class kicked off today over at Altenew Academy. The class is called 3D Floral Focus and is being taught by the very talented Therese Calvird. Here is my third card from the class using the Rose Flurries 3D Die.






The layers of the rose die are inset into the design making the bookmark completely flat. My initials are also inset into the bookmark. No more bulky bookmarks, YAY! This was a super fun technique to try!

Altenew May 2019 Inspiration Challenge

Here is my card for the Altenew May Challenge. I used silver watercolor paint on an old stencil to add a shimmery background. This card is clean and simple... just my style! :oD

White Coat Wine Bottle Cover (Pattern and Directions)

I was recently faced with what to get as a gift for a White Coat Pinning Ceremony. For those that don't know, for DPT students, the white coat ceremony signifies their transition from full-time classroom curriculum to the start of their clinical rotations. So, not a graduation, but still something major worth celebrating. And what's better for celebrating than WINE!

Who would have thought my doll clothes making skills would come in handy dressing up wine bottles? Click on the image below to download the PDF pattern from google docs.

I drafted this pattern for a white coat wine bottle cover to fit an empty wine bottle that I had at home, which was 10" in circumference. However, the wine that we purchased as the gift was 11" around. I didn't realize that wine bottle sizes were so different. After a slight panic attack, I threw the pattern on a copier and enlarged it by 10%... problem solved.



Cut the pattern out from two 9"x12" pieces of white felt.



Attach fronts and back at the shoulder seam.
Attach the sleeves to the front and back.



Sew the collar to the coat... I sewed mine so that the collar seam was on the outside. This made the collar stand up when flipped and folded to the outside. A little bit of the seam showed at the front, but I just trimmed it and whip stitched it down. Maybe, next time I'd try sewing the collar so that the seam is on the inside...



Sew the coat side seams and turn it right side out.




Now for the fun part... add your details!

• Buttons! Buttonholes aren't needed since this will slide on over the top of the bottle.
• Attach pockets.
• Border stitch along the center front and lower edge of the coat
• The school's logo printed on clear sticker paper and stuck it above the breast pocket.
• The pin created from a tiny brass brad (in my case I painted it white and added a logo with clear sticker paper).
• The student's name embroidered on the pocket.
• As a little extra gift, I hung a cute necklace from bottle.

PTI 11th Anniversary Day 3: Transformation Tuesday on a Wednesday

I knew exactly which card I was going to do over. This is a "Get Well" card. Have you ever seen such a depressing "Get Well" card?



Well, I worked really hard on that umbrella so I never threw the card away (this stamp didn't come with dies like PTI stamps do, so it was a CHORE!). My girlfiend just invited me to her daughter's baby shower, so the depressing "Get Well" card is transformed for a baby shower.



Quite an improvement if I do say so myself ;oD

I don't usually go on and on about a new technique, but this was seriously COOL! The PTI MIM challenge this week was about creating a background with baby wipes. I only have three reinkers... blue, green and tan. It was super easy to make a nice diagonally stripped background as a backdrop for a simple Father's Day card.

Reverse Confetti Monthly Challenge

I got this Reverse Confetti Paper Crane stamp set on Sale on their website here. What got me was the GREAT sentiments that came with this set, and the adorable crane. Here is a simple card that I made up for the Reverse Confetti May Sketch Challenge.



Each multi-colored bird is made of four stamped images, watercolored, cut apart and reassembled. I thought that the text running in multiple directions would add to the origami effect.

Happy Sunday, blogging friends!
Here is my card for the PTI Make it Monday challenge (nothing like coming in just under the wire). I had this started fairly early, but it's been a super busy week at work... you know how it is sometimes...

I used watercolor paper instead of regular cardstock and what a difference it makes when doing a watercolor wash! I like how the metallic copper and blue came together. My dad had a VW Bug, so of course the car is stamped in his bug's color (aqua).

Reverse Confetti Monthly Challenge
