It's Card Kit TIme

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are all having a GREAT week!
This month it's my turn to put together the card kit! YIPEE!!! I tried to control myself, but it's just so much FUN adding thing to a kit for my online scrapping friends to play with! Here is the kit... I've been holding on to this paper from Christy Thomlinson for what seems like forever. I actually had to hide if from myself to keep from using it. It's a good thing I remembered where I hid it!

Here is what I had pictured in my mind when I created the kit. I know not all the ladies are into mixed media, but how can I use Chrsity's paper and not do a mixed media project?

My next couple of projects are boxes that I made up for my niece and nephew's birthday.

Now what is the use of having a card kit, if I don't make a couple of cards?!! This first one is my favorite. It was so FAST and EASY using what I put into the kit.

On my second card, I wanted to use banners. Look! My first banner card!

If you are a blog follower, you've seen this card before. But, I added a PP border with paper left over from the kit. I think it adds something special to the card!

FWF and CASology

So, what am I doing when I should be working on my homework for Monday? I'm creating cards! Here is my latest card. I'm entering it in the Unity FWF and CASology blog challenges:

The theme challenge at CASology is HAPPY. I used this wonderful saying stamp from Unity called "Never Too Much Happy." It was perfect for this challenge.

The ladies over at Scrappin' Mojo and the TV tutorial from Angie Blom got me all excited about washi tape today. I'm by no means an expert stamper, so I created my own digital washi tape by using a piece of double stick paper. I've had this stuff forever... do they even make this anymore?

I cut a piece of the double stick paper, peeled off one side, and stuck on a piece of tissue paper. I trimmed the tissue paper to fit.

I picked some nice digital paper from Hello Sunshine Collection from Jessica Sprague. I clipped some strips of my favorite papers in Photoshop and printed them onto the tissue.

Then I just cut them apart... instant washi tape!

Buddy's Visit

Buddy came to visit for a couple nights while my parents were in Las Vegas. This is not earth-shattering news or in any way exciting enough to be post worthy... but who can resist posting a mess of puppy pictures? :oD

Buddy at play... he can play and play and play and play... chasing after Jena with those sharp puppy teeth and sharp puppy claws. Jena put up with it all pretty well. When she wanted a little peace and quiet, she'd go hide under the computer desk.

Buddy at rest is so sweet! After a rousing round of play, the little guy just conks out. He is so snugly when he's tired. No one can resist him!

We worked on house training... not very successfully... We had him sleep in the bathroom. I prop-ed the coffee table on it's side to block the door. He slept in there at night with no problems at all... what a good little guy!

The kids learned to keep their doors closed.because you never know what the little guy will get into. lol!

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

We celebrated my mom's birthday last weekend. I've had a busy week, so I'm slow getting these posted.

Here's the little gift that I made for my mom :oD ... Buddy is such a sweet little guy! We got to watch him this week. I'll post pictures of that later...

We all went out for dinner at Buca di Beppo. Oh, and if you were wondering, they don't let you have more than two free samples of the house wine, haha!

For 12 of us, we got large antipasto salad, large spaghetti with meat sauce, large penne arrabiata, large eggplant parmesan and large lasagna. We had tons of leftovers. For next time we must remember to get large anitpasta salad, large spaghetti with meat sauce, small penne arrabiata, large eggplant parmesan, and get a different small dish other than the lasagna.

Susan Komen Race for the Cure

The kids and I are registered for the Race for the Cure. The purpose of this race is to fund-raise for breast cancer awareness in Orange County.

I put together a team for the people at work who wanted to run/walk this charity. Do you like that logo that Chris put together for me? We have a requested fundraising goal of $125 each, so if you would like to give, it would be majorly appreciated!

Lake Forest Firecracker 5K

We started our 4th of July bright and early at the Lake Forest Firecracker 5K. Jena almost ran with us, until Cheryl reminded me how she has a tendency to stop and go to the bathroom right in the middle of the path. So, she had to hang out on the sidelines with Jim.

Cheryl had a AMAZING race! She is getting so FAST! Cheryl came in 2nd in her age group!

After that we went to my mom and dad's for a visit and early dinner... then on to the Galaxy game, where they lost with just seconds left to go. Well,at least the fireworks show was good!

Happy Birthday Grandma and Papa!!!

Today is my dad's 80th birthday, and my mom's birthday is coming up next weekend. We went went out to dinner at our favorite "special occasion" spot... Todai!

Todai is an all-you-can-eat Japanese buffet. AND we sure EAT! After chowing down on great food, they brought out a cake, and we sang "happy birthday."

Here's a close up of the cake... it's so tiny you can hardly see it, but it was perfect for us! There were 15 people in our party, and since we were so full, we couldn't even finish it, lol!

THIS IS BUDDY!!! He's a 4 month old terrier mix that Grandma's friend rescued from the pound. Can you believe that they were going to euthanize this handsome little guy?

Jena puts up with his puppy antics, and they get along just fine. We put our name first on the puppy sitting list! :oD

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Monday comes too fast!

What a GREAT weekend!

First of all we had tickets to see Les Miserables at the Orange County Performing Arts Center. All of us! Jim and Chris too. The singing was amazing, and the play was as sad as I remember. This time I brought tissues, and I shared them with Cheryl too, hahaha!

Saturday was cleaning, laundry, market, and a Galaxy game! What a GAME! The Galaxy won 3-0! They are finally playing well. It was so much FUN!

Sunday, we took the truck out to get dirty. Jim wanted to try the 4-wheel drive while it was still under warranty. Well, it works GREAT! Jim is very pleased with how the truck powers up hills and handles off road. Here are some pictures from today (again from PicMonkey).


... a lot of driving, a little hiking, and a picnic... We had a nice relaxing day in the mountains.

It's Card Kit Time!

Happy Monday! I hope you are all having a good weekend. Mara put together the kit for this month... a perfect kit for Father's Day! I cut into this kit right away, so it's a good thing that Mara sent us a picture of the kit for our blogs.


My project this month is not a card, but a box. I always love the GREAT decorated boxes done by Mara. She's on the design team at My Time Made Easy. They have such wonderful box templates! Beth also makes great gift boxes for gift card giving, instead of just sliding them in an envelope.

Well, here is my box. I made it to hold my dad's Father's Day gift. I recycled a mailing box, and prettied it up for gift giving!




I LOVE all the wonderful embellishments! That's my favorite part of the kits. Everything matches! I also get some embellishments that I would not normally use or try myself. Look I created my first flags :oD

Sea World!!!

We finally managed to make it Sea World before our free tickets expired! We got there early and it was EMPTY! We walked right on the rides... no waiting in line. It did get busier later in the day. We missed the ride lines, but got caught in the lunch lines! Here are some pictures that we took yesterday. I used Pic Monkey to create the collages. No signing up or registering, and so SIMPLE to use! I LOVE it!



After our full day at Sea World, we had to run to LAX to pick up Chris. He was supposed to come in on an 11:30pm flight... because of delays, he didn't get in until 12:30am... AND because of the 605 traffic, we didn't get home until 3am! We all wished Jim a Happy Father's Day and then went to bed, hahaha!

This morning, we all had a slow start. It's almost noon and Chris is still sleeping. It's almost time to wake him up and get him up and get this Father's Day started!

Happy Father's Day to Jim and Papa, and all those dad's out there!

No Sea World, but....

We had planned on using the free Sea World passes from the Rock n' Roll race, but Cheryl was working this weekend. She was scouting for new players at the Mission Viejo Tournament both Saturday and Sunday. Our second plan was to go to the movies to see Snow White or the Avengers... that didn't happen either.

This weekend, I broke out my sewing machine and made a baby quilt for the neighbor. The baby is expected any day now. The quilt isn't done yet, but it's getting close.


While my machine was out, I made a new happi coat for Cheryl. Hers has been too small for about 5 years! It's about time I got around to it. Does she remind you of a hana fuda card? The one with the deer and the star flowers? lol!



And lastly... Jim bought a car... well, a truck. I see some off-roading and camping in our future!


Jim actually just went to look at the truck. He just wanted to drive a 4-Runner. Well, the dealer gave him such a GREAT deal that he couldn't resist. So, the truck is ours!

On top of all that Jammer came to stay. She and Jena were playing playing playing all weekend long! I hope everyone had a great weekend... Monday comes to FAST!
